Rota & Support Caboolture has three positions for senior ED registrars starting in August '24. They are accredited for ED training (stage 4). The role involves supervising the juniors in the Emergency Department. It's a great opportunity to transition to Specialist in ED (Blugibbon placed a doctor at Caboolture 8 years ago, and they are now a fellow on the ACEM interview panel). The salary will be the highest any Queensland hospital can offer, and the cost of living is very affordable there. In addition, there's a 20% relocation allowance on top of the base pay (Caboolture is the only site in QLD with this allowance approved until 2025). You will work a standard 38-hour week, including a mix of days and evenings. The rostering regulations in Australia are strict, so hospitals must ensure their doctors have ample breaks between and after night shifts. If you work additional hours, the hospital compensates you with 'fatigue pay' at a higher rate for the entire shift. You will be supported throughout, with a FACEM/Consultant available on call as needed. Pay & Perks According to the Queensland Health pay scale, you can earn $130,000-180,000 per year + 20% on top of the annual salary to help with relocation, with any additional hours paid at increased rates. Support with visa and registration is available, too. If you work additional hours, these are paid at enhanced rates (often 150% or 200% of your base pay). Accommodation Support Support with visa and medical council registration. Up to 5 weeks paid annual leave per year Up to 10 days of paid sick leave per year Superannuation to the value of 11% of total salary. This is the Australian pension and is paid by your employer tax-free in addition to your salary. Start Date The hospital is looking for someone to start around January 2025, although there is some flexibility in this. You must be willing to commit to a 12-month period, but you can, of course, return home if there are emergencies or unexpected circumstances. Once you complete a year in the Aussie system, you gain general registration, which opens up many doors. Even locum doors! Eligibility To be eligible for this role, you must have a primary degree from the UK, Ireland, US or Canada and currently hold full registration in the country where you received your primary degree, with 2 years of emergency medicine experience and be PGY5+.
